The President of the United States of America stated that he agreed, along with the Brazilian statesman, that Venezuela needs to immediately disclose complete, transparent, and detailed voting data at the level of polling stations by the electoral authorities of that country.

The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, posted on his social networks that he spoke with the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), this Tuesday (30/7), about the electoral situation of Venezuela, where President Nicolás Maduro has already graduated for another 6-year term in the country, however without publishing the minutes of the voting results in the Latin country.
According to the Democrat, in addition to the series of bilateral and regional issues to be discussed, the most important thing at this moment is “the need for immediate dissemination of complete, transparent and detailed voting data, at the level of voting stations, by the authorities Venezuelan electoral elections“.
Biden also said that both Lula da Silva and himself committed “to maintain close coordination on the matter.”
As for the Brazilian statesman, he stated, also on the microblogging platform X, that, “by phone“, he spoke “with President Biden about matters of interest to Brazil and the United States, in addition to the situation in Venezuela“.
The head of the Brazilian Executive shared a link to the Palácio do Planalto website – headquarters of the Brazilian government, to an explanatory article on the topics that were discussed between the two leaders.
According to the text, the conversation between Lula da Silva and Biden lasted around half an hour. The North American Democrat thanked him for the joint work in the Partnership for Workers’ Rights and in the area of energy transition.
Biden confirmed his presence at the G20 Summit in November in Rio de Janeiro and wished the Brazilian presidency success at the head of the group.
Regarding Venezuela, Lula noted that he has maintained permanent monitoring of the electoral process through his Special Advisor, Celso Amorim, sent to Caracas.
He reported that Amorim was with Nicolás Maduro and Edmundo González Urrutia and reiterated Brazil‘s position of continuing to work towards the normalization of the political process in the neighboring country, which will have positive effects for the entire region.
Lula da Silva reiterated that it is essential to publish the electoral minutes from the election that took place last Sunday. Biden agreed with the importance of disclosing the minutes.
President Biden mentioned that the economies of both countries are doing well and that the partnership between Brazil and the USA should continue to grow.
Lula da Silva invited Biden to participate in a meeting of democratic countries against extremism, which will be held next September, in New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
At the end of the call, the Brazilian president congratulated Biden for his “magnanimous” decision regarding the American electoral process and wished success for the country’s democracy in the presidential elections in November.
